James Hawkless

James was the eldest child of Thomas Hawkless and Eliza Sloane. He was born in 1845 and died aged 29 in 1874. There is no record of James being married or having children. 

The photograph below was taken in April 2002 and is of James' headstone at St Anne's Church of England at Ryde.  The road outside St Anne's Church is Victoria Road, Ryde and in recent years is said to have the highest volume of traffic of any street in Australia.

St Anne's Church is the third oldest church in Australia and is positioned high on a hill at Ryde with sweeping views - especially towards the west.
